Solang Valley

Solang Valley derives its name from combination of words Solang (Nearby village) and Nallah (water stream).

This valley is 20 km northwest of the resort town Manali on the way to Rohtang Pass. The sports most commonly offered are Zipline, parachuting, paragliding, skating and zorbing.To enjoy skiing, January and February are the best seasons.

Very high slopes of lawn comprise Solang Valley and provide its reputation as a popular ski resort. A few ski agencies offering courses and equipment reside here and operate only during winters.

Solang valley is one of the most picturesque sights in Manali and is located at an average altitude of 2,560 meters above sea level.

It is one of the most favorite trekking hotspots of the tourists, holidaying in Manali. This is located between the Solang village and Beas Kund and offers majestic views of glaciers and snow capped mountain.

The Mountaineering Institute of Manali has installed a ski lift for training purpose and there is a small hut and a guest house that belongs to the Mountaineering and Allied Sports Institute.

The months of summer and winter see different faces of the valley. The winter months from December to February are usually considered to be the best time to visit as you can experience the beautiful snowfall and skiing down the slopes. If you prefer activities like zorbing and paragliding, the summers might be the best time to visit for you.

Traveler Tips :-

  • Woollen clothes are often available for rent in the area. Do remember to check for any damage before you pay for them.
  • Carry sunglasses and wear socks with sturdy shoes so that you have no problem while taking part in the adventure.
  • The place can be crowded sometimes so expect a bit of a rush and traffic while getting here. 

Availability of Guides :-

Though guided tours are available from Manali, Solang Valley can be easily visited on your own. It is important to note that a guided tour may let you experience all the adventure activities you like, but you may have to do so in a rush. So, if you are looking for a calmer and slower experience, we recommend that you explore this place by yourself.
